A MESSAGE FROM OUR LOWER SCHOOL HEAD |
|
|
| JohnEric Advento, Lower School Head, invites readers to convene on screens in his recent blog post. Below is an excerpt: The most recent Parent Coffee and Conversation in the Lower School engaged more than a dozen parents in the Oakwood Room convening about screens. Our newest faculty member, STEM teacher Mrs. Kim Mattappallil, and I led a conversation about some of the work that we are doing at LA to support our students becoming digital citizens. Below are some highlights of the conversation: We began with some questions to ponder: - What are the advantages of technology use by your children?
- What are your concerns regarding technology use by your children? - Define “screen” time. |

Student honors veterans with service project |
Devin Coleman ’24 felt an enormous sense of pride and honor while completing a most rewarding Girl Scout Gold Award service project last month. Inspired by her grandfathers, who served in the Korean War, the LA junior cleaned and refurbished the Ripper Collins Veterans Memorial Garden in her hometown of Middletown in time for a Veterans Day tribute.
“Having the courage to go serve our country in all of these different wars is amazing to me,” Devin said. “Seeing them be so brave is just incredible. Having somebody in my family do that and come back to tell their story is unbelievable.” |
