A MESSAGE FROM OUR COLLEGE COUNSELING OFFICE |
|
|
| Chris Teare, Senior Associate Director of College Counseling, shares a wonderful story with an important message in his November blog post. Below is an excerpt:
In May of 1975, my father took me to visit colleges in New England. For some reason I can’t recall, I thought that’s where the best ones were. We started at Yale, where my father thought I could play college football. The Yale coach disagreed with my father’s assessment of my athletic talent, so we had to find other places that might want to give me a chance. We visited four smaller colleges: Amherst, Williams, Wesleyan, and Trinity. The Amherst football coach spent a lot of time with us, touring us all over the campus, showing us his favorite painting in the art museum and taking us into the recital hall to speak of the wonderful concerts he had heard there. I thought that any place where the football coach knew there was more to life than football had to be special, and I was hooked.

| Freshmen make impact on service trip |
The Class of 2026 embarked on its first Upper School service trip last week and made quite an impact.
Students, along with faculty chaperones Nicole Nolan, Jason Murphy, Maxime Sinal, Safia Haddam and Joe Konczynski, spent a few very productive hours in a Grow a Row trip to Riamede Farm in Chester. Students gleaned over 2,000 pounds of apples that otherwise would have gone to waste. That translates to 8,000 servings of apples which were distributed to our neighbors in need. Two crates of these apples were delivered directly to the Raritan Food Pantry for immediate distribution. Others will be delivered to local charities in need.

| Middle School students celebrate books |
In honor of National Book Month, the Middle School held its annual Locker Book Wrap contest last week. Students designed and created a stylized book spine of their selected title to decorate the front of their lockers, Using colored paper, pencils, markers and their imaginations, students displayed a keen understanding of the themes, characters, symbols, and other key elements of the books. Their designs displayed the work’s title and author like a book spine, oriented to the vertical plane. Congratulations to this year’s winners: Lily Li ’27, Coco Lee ’27 and Angel Lu ’28.
