Seniors Address Relevant Themes in Speeches

Rudy Brandl

Four seniors delivered their speeches within the past week in the Berry Performing Arts Center – Andrew Wolff ’23, Nosagie Obadiaru ’23, Nandini Shah ’23 and Maiti O’Connor ’23.

Andrew has learned to laugh at himself during embarrassing moments, including a few he shared from his Upper School years. Instead of wiping them away like his favorite childhood literary character Harold with the purple crayon, Andrew believes these moments show how much he’s grown.

Nosagie also addressed the theme of overcoming embarrassment, sharing an entertaining story about not being able to find a water bottle at a track meet. This experience taught him not to dwell on embarrassing moments, but instead to laugh at them.

Nandini discussed how her love for gymnastics has taught her many life lessons, including that perfection does not exist. A knee injury during in seventh grade provided a new perspective and Nandini is now focused on the pure enjoyment of the sport.

Maiti shared the many ways her passion for diving has defined her over the years. Always a natural talent in the sport, she used to take her ability for granted but overcoming an injury and adversity last summer has made Maiti more determined than ever to excel.
