The annual Winter Games proved to be exciting for LA community members of all ages – from the many fans who were treated to three entertaining basketball games to the varsity athletes and older alumni who competed in Laidlaw Gym.
After the LA boys lost a tough and competitive game, the LA girls prevailed in an important contest that secured a share of the Gold Division title. The Rams avenged a December defeat and rolled to a 42-23 victory over Mother Seton behind a smothering defense and dominant second half performance. Devin Coleman ’24 led all scorers with 18 points and seven rebounds. Rajwans Sindhar ’25 controlled the paint with a game-high 11 rebounds to go with her six points. Kate Clemetson ’25 added nine points for the Rams, who ended their season winning 10 of their last 11 games.
The Alumni Basketball Game featured a five-decade mix of younger players and older veterans, who were divided into teams based on age. The elder Gray team defeated the more recent LA graduates on the Gold team by a 55-45 margin. Winning team members included LA Athletic Hall of Famers Luke Burroughs ’99 and Gary Burdick ’73, who led the Rams to State Prep titles during their scholastic careers.
Alumni players, families and friends enjoyed a reception with stadium style fare in the Oakwood Room after the games. The event was sponsored by the Alumni Office.
