LA Community Celebrates 140th Day, Year

Rudy Brandl

The LA community enjoyed a celebration of history and tradition with an eye toward the future in its 140th Anniversary Celebration on May 10.

The afternoon event, held outdoors on the East Turf field, began with students entering and forming a framed 140 for a commemorative group photo. Faculty, parents and friends also were invited to appear in the photo.

The ceremony included remarks from Dr. Corinna Crafton, Acting Head of School, Dr. Ayesha Sitlani, Board of Trustees President, Plainfield Mayor Adrian Mapp and Edison Mayor Sam Joshi. Student performances included America the Beautiful by MadJazz and the choirs, Blinding Lights by the Upper School band, and a cheer routine by a combined squad of Middle and Upper School students.

During her remarks, Dr. Crafton honored the past and the school’s proud traditions and looked ahead with great optimism as she prepares for her transition to Head of School.

At the conclusion of the event, guests enjoyed cupcakes from a massive LA 140 design compliments of Sage Dining Services.
