The Upper School’s Plainfield outreach programs are going strong and growing. The afterschool programs at Barlow Elementary and Jefferson School run Mondays through Thursdays from 2:45-4 p.m. LA students work with students in the after school programs on homework and skills support. Current participants include Sreeprada Arumilli '23, Sydney Racine '23, Siddharth Bharadwaj '24, Tim Oligino '24, Raiya Patel '24, Briana Li '25, Saveena Boga '26, Natalie Chen '26, Arya Gaur '26, Joanna Jian '26, Jayla Presley-May '26 and Noah Ronnen '26.
LA also has begun a new partnership in the early stages of development with El Cenrto Hispanoamericano, an organization that has been supporting migrant families since 1984. Mr. Brooks Smith, one of the founding board members, came to speak with Upper School Students in December about ways to support their organization. On January 24, students Briana Di Landro '23, Joanne Ding '24, Emma Herko '25, Giselle Rodriguez '25 and Nijiany Genao '26 accompanied Mrs. Nolan, Director of Global Scholars and Community Outreach, to help with food and diaper distribution and to learn about other service opportunities. Students will again help with food distribution, support ELL classes on Saturday mornings, and create a program for diaper donations and distribution.
WH Subscribes to Fight Hunger also continues to support the Starfish Food Pantry with monthly deliveries. Each delivery has equated to approximately 250-300 pounds of food. For more information on WH Subscribes to Fight Hunger, please email Mrs. Nicole Nolan at nnolan@whschool.org
