Sarah Honan, Director of College Counseling, presented the RPI Medal to Siddharth Bharadwaj ’24 at a recent Upper School meeting.

RPI Medal recipients must be ranked within the top 10 percent of their class, excel in advanced math and science courses, have completed chemistry, biology, lab-based physics, and at least four years of math, including pre-calculus by the end of high school. They must also demonstrate potential for success in a challenging academic setting and exhibit significant involvement in extracurricular activities.

Founded in 1824, Rensselaer is the oldest technological institution in North America, and it is located in the Capital Region of New York State. This prestigious award has been awarded since 1916 to one student in any given high school and is designed to recognize that student’s strength and success in the fields of mathematics and science. Medalists who apply, are admitted to, and enroll at Rensselaer are awarded a scholarship worth $30,000 per year.

“I am deeply honored to receive the RPI medal, a recognition that further fuels my ambition to excel in STEM and extracurricular subjects. I did not expect to receive such a prestigious award, and this recognition motivates me to continue my contributions to the scientific community, strive for innovation, and inspire others to explore their potential in STEM and extracurricular subjects. I am grateful to the teachers who nominated me for this award and encouraged my intellectual curiosity. This recognition means a lot to me,” Siddharth said.
