Seniors Reflect on Insightful Topics in Speeches

Rudy Brandl

Five seniors delivered their speeches within the past week in the Berry Performing Arts Center – Sanah Menon ’23 (pictured), Jim Zhang ’23, Nidhi Nimma ’23, Vineeth Reddy ’23 and Nate Bravo ’23. While they addressed different topics and themes, the speeches contained a common thread of introspection.

Sanah admitted that “change is inevitable” as she reflected on the many times she has changed schools over the years. She has learned to appreciate the positive aspects of change and how it can lead to growth and cultivating different perspectives.

Jim expressed his great appreciation for the many ways in which LA has improved his life in the past two years. Supportive teachers have guided him to excel in a rigorous academic environment, which will help him become the first member of his family to attend a college or university.

Nidhi described her journey from a brave child to an adolescent who struggles with anxiety and has experienced many ups and downs. She has learned to speak up and no longer be afraid and encouraged her peers not to let social anxiety hold them back.

Vineeth shared many examples and stories about his biggest weakness – the inability to be on time. Lateness has plagued Vineeth throughout Upper School but he is focused on improving and working hard to fix this bad habit.

Nate delivered a powerful message about the importance of self-examination. Motivated by the quote “The unexamined life is not worth living,” Nate encouraged his peers to look inward and examine their lives to maximize their potential.
