Four seniors delivered speeches within the past week in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to Demi Dai ’24 (pictured), Amandeep Bahia ’24, Martin Accilien ’24 and Sarah Shao ’24 for sharing their stories.
Demi reflected on days from her childhood and middle school years in which she was labeled as introverted and non-athletic, which led to anxiety and struggles with her self-image. Since coming to LA, she’s become true to herself and found her confidence.
Amandeep assured everyone that past experiences and mistakes don’t define one’s future because everyone falls down at times. He shared a few stories of his own experiences and how he’s learned to rise above challenges and become a better version of himself.
Martin began with the popular slogan “just do it” and used it to deliver an important message about taking risks and trying new things. He provided examples such as Apple and Facebook to show how ideas can turn into successful ventures, made possible only by taking action.
Sarah embraced her position of senior role model by sharing her three rules to succeed in high school: love and support yourself, composure by exposure, and surround yourself with good people. She briefly explained each and closed with the motivational “you got this” to her peers.
