Seniors Address Interesting Topics in Speeches

Rudy Brandl

Five seniors delivered excellent speeches within the past week in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to Ethan Guo ’24 (pictured), Aanya Mohan ’24, Simrah Razvi ’24, Jack Singer ’24 and Sarah Alves ’24 for sharing interesting, insightful and uplifting stories with the Upper School audience.

Ethan reflected on the many valuable insights he gained while working with visually impaired people during a summer product design experience in China. While enhancing his tech knowledge, Ethan also appreciated the patience and empathy he learned.

Aanya discussed her constant state of worry, its many impacts and how it has affected her life. She credited her mother with providing a sense of calm and teaching her to see the beauty of life even in scary things like the thunderstorms she once feared.

Simrah provided a humorous account of her summer experience taking a pilates class in her attempt to “be more productive.” Looking and feeling good made Simrah feel better and more productive because she was taking care of herself, which helped her “out of the rut.”

Jack also used humor to make his point about the importance of trying new things. Once averse to anything but the kid-friendly food basics, Jack has learned to experiment with different foods and activities, and he saluted LA for giving him the confidence to branch out.

Sarah shared gratitude for the many positive changes LA has made in her life, especially the confidence she has gained as an outgoing, energetic and talented artist and athlete. She encouraged her peers to embrace change because it can open doors to many opportunities.
