On February 2-3, a group of 12 Model UN members competed at AMUN, a Model United Nations competition at Bergen County Academies. Delegates debated as members of the 1787 Constitutional Convention, CIA Directors of the Iranian Hostage Crisis, countries on the ethics of drone warfare, the energy crisis of Russia v. Ukraine War, and many more.
The LA delegation came home with two awards: Alex Mischel ’26 with Honorable Mention in the ECOFIN Committee and Annie Gu ’23 with Best Delegate in the Ad-Hoc Committee.
“AMUN was a fantastic experience for me to grow, and it was extremely rewarding to see our younger delegates compete,” Annie said. “Winning the Ad-Hoc committee was hard work with intense debates and large amounts of writing, but it all paid off in the end. I wish nothing but the best to my fellow delegates and WHMUN going forward.”
It was a significant learning experience for many of the new LA delegates, and everybody mentioned having fun at the conference. Others who attended were Natalie Chen ’26, Nia Clark ’25, Adam Eisdorfer ’25, David Flatau-Jones ’23, Arya Gaur ’26, Oliver Laskow ’25, Cian Nicholls ’25, Archish Vadlamannati ’25, Helen Tang ’26, and Andrew Wolff ’23.
