Mike Romeo, Athletic Director, announced the first Middle School Athletes of the Week of the 2023-2024 school year at Wednesday’s division meeting. Congratulations to soccer players Raj Gandhi ’29, Siddharth Selvaraj ’29, Allison Maiga ’29 and Eric Redman ’30, and tennis players Sofia Vidal ’29, Morayo Dickson ’29 and Diya Kothari ’28.
Raj and Siddharth both stepped into the captain’s role for Green soccer after being selected for showing a high level of dedication, focus and energy in training and games. Their leadership helped the Rams record a gigantic 3-1 win against Gill St. Bernard’s in the opening game of the season. With Siddharth's sublime skill and Raj's calmness and excellence in possession, it's lining up to be a magnificent season!
Allison is a veteran presence on the Gold team and she is comfortable playing just about every position. She is aggressive, passionate, and improves every day in practice. She scored the team’s first goal of the season against Gill St. Bernard’s and it's no surprise given how effective she is at finding opportunities to shoot.
Eric is a dual threat for the Gold team, stopping goals as the netminder for the first half of games, then scoring goals in the second half of games. He comes to practice every day energetic and ready to compete. Eric is tenacious, has a nose for the ball, and lifts all spirits with his joyous energy.
Sofia won two matches against Ranney Prep – one singles and one doubles – to lead the Rams to victory.
Morayo and Diya played three doubles matches in the team’s match at Gill St. Bernard’s and won all of them, greatly contributing to the Rams’ overall win.
