Mike Romeo, Athletic Director, announced the Middle School Athletes of the Week at Wednesday’s division community meeting. Congratulations to swimmers Sofia Vidal ’29 and Gavin Tobin-Montanez ’30 and cheerleader Alanna Augustin ’30.
The swim team recently went through a stretch of four meets in three weeks, competing against schools like Pennington and Edgar, who are always tough opponents. With a few swimmers missing, much of the team had to step up. Sofia and Gavin rose to the challenge, swimming multiple races and relays back-to-back, giving new events like the 200 freestyle a chance and even taking on the 50 fly.
Alanna is the only sixth grader on the squad, which can be intimidating. However, she shows up ready to work hard each practice and game. Her skills have come a long way this season, particularly her motions and her back-spotting. Alanna is going to be a great future leader on the team.
