On a Friday in mid-September, 19 Monarch larvae arrived at WardlaLAartridge and turned into caterpillars over the weekend. Third grade classes, led by Ms. Heiss, Mrs. Pedde and Mrs. Sari, welcomed them into the Lower School Spanish classroom and placed them into their temporary home until they can be released in our Lower School garden.
All the Lower School students pledged to be Monarch butterfly protectors by adding their names to the “Protectores de las Mariposas Monarca” bulletin board and by getting their picture taken with Monarch butterfly wings.
We invite our school community to read the information on the bulletin board across the teachers’ lounge and share their picture with their Monarch butterfly wings along with a post about the actions they are taking to protect not only our protégées but the Earth by scanning the QR code. All are also invited to visit the Lower School Spanish classroom to observe our special guests’ metamorphosis.
