Lifers Cap Senior Speech Season in Grand Style

Rudy Brandl

The final four Senior Speeches of the 2023-2024 school year capped an excellent year of oration. Four LA lifers presented fabulous speeches within the past week in the Berry Performing Arts Center. Congratulations to lifers Nidhin Kumar ’24 (pictured), Sydney Geissler ’24, Hannah Yin ’24 and Anushka Dalal ’24 for sharing their stories and impactful messages.

Nidhin began by asking the audience to imagine these were their final moments and to examine their level of happiness and satisfaction with their lives. He reflected on his own life journey and how the scary reality that “tomorrow is never promised” has encouraged him to stop waiting and take action.

Sydney shared the ups and downs, bumps, bruises and breaks she’s suffered during her cheerleading and softball careers and how they have affected her physically and mentally. She’s learned to never give up and her strength, perseverance and support from the LA community have propelled her to many wonderful memories.

Hannah discussed her desire for perfection and how the internal pressure has affected her in the classroom and on the volleyball court. She’s learned to accept that being imperfect is natural and embraces her real, authentic self as a strong person who always tries her best.

Anushka reflected on the journey of her voice, which began with a love of singing as a child but later turned into a lack of confidence in her Middle School years. After some difficult years that included feelings of isolation, Anushka has begun to embrace her voice again and now has the courage to be heard.
