The LA indoor track team made quite an impact in last week’s Prep B State Championships at The Bennett Center in Toms River. Nine Rams scored points in a balanced attack to propel the boys and girls to fourth place in their respective team standings.
Tommy O’Connor ’25 repeated his gold medal performance in the 400 meters after making school history the previous week at the Non-Public B Championships. Tommy crossed the finish line in 53.68 seconds to win the Prep B title.
He also joined teammates Adam Eisdorfer ’25, Sevastian Castillo ’26 and Matt Piccoli ’23 in the 4x400 relay, which finished second in a time of 3:45.59. Other LA boys scoring points included Eisdorfer in the 800 meters (3rd, 2:09.92) and 1,600 meters (6th, 5:00.42) and Cian Nicholls ’25 in the 3,200 meters (4th, 11:06.95).
Naomi Valcourt led the Rams scoring in four events: the 55 meters (4th, 7.94), 200 meters (3rd, 29.02) and 400 meters (2nd, 1:07.11). She also joined Emma Herko ’25, Jayla Presley-May ’26 and Charlotte Szczubelek ’26 in the 4x400 relay, which took second in 4:39.37. Other LA girls scoring points included Herko in the 800 meters (3rd, 2:29.21) and Szczubelek in the 800 (4th, 2:39.93).
