The LA varsity girls’ golf team won its third consecutive Central Jersey sectional title at Stanton Ridge Golf Club in Whitehouse Station on May 8. The Rams rolled to the crown by 25 strokes over runner-up Princeton High School.

Claire Lu ’24 finished second in the individual standings with a 1-over-par round of 72 and Sarah Shao ’24 placed fifth with a 3-over-par round of 74 to lead the Rams. Tanya Chowdary ’24 and Ava Choi ’25 rounded out the team’s victory with rounds of 82 and 83, respectively.

“This was only the fourth time all season that the team was at full strength, and three of those occasions were in tournaments that the team won,” veteran LA head coach Jim Howard said.

The Rams also finished the regular season undefeated and now set their sights on the NJSIAA Championships and State Prep Championships.

“I thought individually I played well, and I was able to make three birdies in a row which was very cool,” Claire said. “As a team, we did our best and played well, and I am proud of our team for winning.”

“While winning a tournament is always rewarding, I'm so incredibly proud of the team for our hard work and effort in preparing for this tournament,” Sarah added. “We're looking forward to finishing the season strong!”
