Adam Eisdorfer ’25 will be racing against many of the fastest runners in the country at this weekend’s Adidas Track Nationals in Virginia Beach, VA. Adam earned his place in the nationals with a superb performance at the NJSIAA Meet of Champions at Ocean Breeze in Staten Island on March 3.
The WardlaLAartridge junior has continued to improve his times throughout the season, especially in the 400-meter run, which has become his signature event. Elite competition and a fast track at Ocean Breeze propelled Adam to a personal-record time of 50.98 at the M of C. He finished second in his heat, a mere .04 in front of the third-place runner.
“At the beginning of the race, I wanted to get out as fast as possible for the first 50 meters or so. For the rest of the first lap, I tried to conserve as much energy as possible without slowing down. With 100 meters left, I was all-out sprinting with everything I had left. On the last straight, I heard a competitor creeping up behind me. This pushed me even more for the last 30 meters, which, along with having a good race, led me to a big PR,” Adam said.
After becoming the first LA runner to win a State Prep title at The Bubble in Toms River in February, Adam set a goal to break 51 seconds during the indoor season. He knew the competition and the Ocean Breeze track would give him that opportunity. Now, he’s gunning for another personal record in Virginia.
“Going to nationals has been a dream of mine ever since I was a freshman,” Adam said. “I remember going to meets and seeing the backpacks with the national symbols, thinking they must be outstanding runners. It is surreal that I am able to go, and I cannot wait to see what I can run on a big stage.”
