A MESSAGE FROM OUR DIRECTOR OF ADMISSION |
|
|
| Gerard Gonnella '89, Director of Admission and Financial Aid, shares a resolution all parents should keep in his January blog post. Below is an excerpt: Happy New Year! It’s a new year, a time when many people make resolutions. One resolution you should definitely keep: investing in a first-rate educational experience for your child.
An independent school education affords your child with an atmosphere to learn and grow in a safe learning environment. Schools like WardlaLAartridge are able to provide this experience through small class sizes (average class size 14), personal attention (7:1 student:teacher ratio) and a rigorous academic program that includes 20 Advanced Placement courses. |

Fourth graders use math skills to escape |
Fourth grade students spent part of the last week of classes before Winter Break working on an Escape Room in a collaborative project. Four groups of students eventually managed to escape successfully by using their knowledge of fractions to solve eight puzzles. The students were also introduced to the concepts of decimals which will be covered in the next chapter, to complete the project. The groups not only had to use their math skills but their abilities to work as a team to escape. The team of Austin Li '31, Alex Lu '31, Vivienne Leu '31, Advik Singh '31, and Ruby Huang '31 were the first to escape!

| UN parent speaker enlightens MS students |
Mr. Neeraj Kumar, father of Shachee '24 and Samyak '29, joined the Middle School on Thursday, December 15 to share information about the United Nations and its important work on Human Rights. December is Human Rights Month, with December 10 recognized as World Human Rights Day. This year's theme is "Dignity, Freedom, and Justice for All."
Mr. Kumar led students through a brief history of the United Nations and how it is organized and played a game where students reflected on what they had learned during the meeting, winning prizes, including a United Nations pencil or pin. Ms. Jennifer Rose, Head of Middle School, was especially grateful that Mr. Kumar "exemplifies our school’s mission to prepare students to lead and succeed in a world of global interconnection. Moreover, he was able to share in our Middle School's theme of joy, community, and connection by engaging students with the important work of the United Nations."
