Distance Learning in Upper School
While we cannot replicate the same experiences for students that happen in person during our regular sessions, we believe we can provide students with meaningful and engaging opportunities to continue their learning. Our outstanding faculty have embraced the challenge of working to develop a distance learning program that maintains the broad goals and core values of the Lena Archuleta School. Our distance learning approach aims to leverage technology for the sake of delivering content, maintaining relationships, and assessing student progress. That said, we are cognizant of the dangers of having students spend inordinate amounts of time on computers as well as the practical challenges for families with multiple students. We will leverage our flexibility, creativity, and strong community connections to implement a strong remote educational program that works to support each student’s learning and well-being.
Learning experiences are designed to be completed independently or in collaboration with other students. Tutoring is not recommended, nor should a parent/guardian be too involved. Resources vary by class and lesson, but will include links to videos, graphic organizers, scanned material to read and engage with, independent research material via online sources or our library databases, and reading materials including ebooks. Students are encouraged to be proactive in reaching out to teachers when they have questions or assignments are unclear.
